Do I Need a Gun Trust?

By Barry Peters | Jun 24, 2019

Do I need a gun trust?

Most people don’t. But if you have certain types of weapons or explosives, you may need one.

Federal law requires special permits for certain firearms and materials. Those include:

  • Sawed off rifles & shotguns (with barrels less than 18” long)
  • Fully automatic weapons (multiple rounds fired from single trigger pull)
  • Silencers and suppressors
  • Hand grenades and other explosive devices

For those who own any of these items, a Gun Trust is the best method to pass them to your heirs.

But, for the rest of you that just own garden-variety firearms, no special Gun Trust is needed.
